JoMEAR is committed to protecting academic integrity by ensuring originality, appropriate attribution, and responsible scholarly writing in every submitted manuscript.
Plagiarism Policy Statement
The Journal of Management, Economics, and Accounting Research (JoMEAR) requires all submitted manuscripts to demonstrate originality and appropriate attribution of sources.
JoMEAR does not tolerate plagiarism, substantial unattributed copying, duplicate publication, inappropriate self-plagiarism, fabricated sources, or other forms of academic misconduct.
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts comply with accepted standards of academic integrity before submission.
Similarity < 15%
The overall similarity of a submitted manuscript must be less than 15% before the manuscript can proceed through the JoMEAR editorial process.
Turnitin & iThenticate
Authors and editors are encouraged to use recognized similarity checking services to identify textual overlap and improve manuscript originality.

Turnitin may be used to generate a similarity report and identify passages requiring citation, paraphrasing, or further editorial review.

Manuscript Submission
Authors submit the manuscript through the official JoMEAR online submission system.
Similarity Checking
The manuscript may be screened using Turnitin, iThenticate, or another appropriate similarity-checking service.
Similarity Assessment
The similarity report is evaluated to determine the overall similarity level and identify passages that require further examination.
Editorial Decision
Manuscripts meeting the less than 20% similarity requirement may proceed to the next editorial stage, subject to other journal requirements.
Revision or Further Assessment
Manuscripts that do not meet the similarity requirement may be returned to the authors for revision and may be screened again before further editorial consideration.
Manuscripts with Similarity of 20% or Higher
A manuscript with an overall similarity of 20% or higher does not meet the JoMEAR similarity requirement.
The manuscript may be returned to the author for revision, clarification, and correction of inappropriate textual overlap. A revised manuscript may undergo another similarity screening before it can proceed to further editorial evaluation.
What Authors Should Check Before Submission
Write the manuscript using original wording and analysis.
Cite ideas, statements, data, and findings obtained from other sources.
Clearly identify and properly attribute direct quotations.
Avoid substantial reuse of previously published material without appropriate disclosure.
Forms of Plagiarism and Related Misconduct
- Direct plagiarism — copying text or material without appropriate attribution.
- Mosaic plagiarism — combining or closely adapting material from sources without adequate attribution.
- Self-plagiarism — reusing substantial portions of one's previous publication without appropriate disclosure or attribution.
- Duplicate publication — submitting or publishing substantially the same work in more than one publication without appropriate disclosure.
- Unattributed use of figures, tables, data, or images — using protected material without appropriate permission or attribution where required.
Similarity Score and Plagiarism Determination
The 20% threshold is JoMEAR's manuscript similarity requirement. However, a similarity score by itself does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Editors should consider the matched sources, context, citations, quotations, references, technical terminology, and other legitimate forms of textual overlap when assessing potential plagiarism.
Editorial Actions for Suspected Plagiarism
If inappropriate plagiarism or substantial unattributed overlap is identified, JoMEAR may request clarification or revision, return the manuscript to the author, reject the submission, or take other appropriate editorial action depending on the nature and seriousness of the concern.
For concerns involving an article that has already been published, JoMEAR may investigate the matter and, where appropriate, issue a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other editorial notice.
Confidentiality
Similarity reports and related editorial assessments are treated as confidential editorial materials and are used for the responsible evaluation of manuscript originality and publication integrity.
Originality is a Publication Requirement
Authors are expected to check their manuscripts carefully before submission and ensure that the overall similarity is less than 20% while maintaining proper citation, attribution, and academic integrity.
