Publication Ethics Statement
The Journal of Management, Economics, and Accounting Research (JoMEAR) is committed to ethical and responsible scholarly publishing. Authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher are expected to uphold high standards of academic integrity throughout the submission, peer review, editorial decision, and publication processes.
JoMEAR does not tolerate fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, unethical authorship practices, undisclosed conflicts of interest, manipulation of the peer review process, or other forms of publication misconduct.
Integrity in Scholarly Publishing
Research and publication information must be honest and accurate.
Editorial and publication practices should be communicated clearly.
Manuscripts and peer review information must be handled confidentially.
Editorial decisions should be based on scholarly considerations.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Submit original work that has not been published elsewhere, except where appropriately disclosed and permitted.
- Ensure that the research is reported accurately and completely.
- Do not fabricate or falsify research data, results, or other scholarly information.
- Provide appropriate citations and acknowledge the work of others.
- Ensure that all listed authors have made substantial contributions to the work and approve the submitted version.
- Identify the corresponding author and provide accurate affiliation and contact information.
- Disclose relevant funding and potential conflicts of interest where applicable.
- Cooperate with the editorial team if questions concerning the integrity of the work arise.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Evaluate manuscripts fairly and objectively according to the journal's scope and academic standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and editorial information.
- Select appropriate reviewers based on subject expertise and suitability.
- Consider potential conflicts of interest when assigning reviewers or making editorial decisions.
- Ensure that editorial decisions are not based on personal, institutional, commercial, political, or other inappropriate considerations.
- Handle suspected publication misconduct appropriately and responsibly.
- Maintain the integrity of the published scholarly record.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations.
- Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts and review materials.
- Declare any actual or potential conflict of interest.
- Notify the editor if they are not sufficiently qualified to review the manuscript.
- Identify relevant scholarly work where appropriate.
- Avoid using unpublished information obtained during peer review for personal or professional advantage.
- Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe whenever reasonably possible.
Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication
JoMEAR considers plagiarism, substantial unattributed copying, duplicate publication, and inappropriate reuse of previously published material to be serious forms of publication misconduct.
Manuscripts may be screened for similarity and reviewed for possible plagiarism or redundant publication. When concerns are identified, the editorial team may request clarification, correction, revision, withdrawal, rejection, or other appropriate action depending on the circumstances.
Research Integrity
Fabrication
Making up data, results, participants, experiments, or other research information that did not actually occur.
Falsification
Manipulating research materials, procedures, data, images, or results in a manner that misrepresents the research.
Misrepresentation
Misrepresenting research methods, findings, authorship, affiliations, sources, or contributions.
Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors should disclose any financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other relationship that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research, review, or editorial decision.
Individuals with a relevant conflict of interest should not participate in an editorial or review decision where their independence could reasonably be compromised.
Authorship and Contributions
Authorship should reflect meaningful contributions to the research and manuscript. All authors should have participated sufficiently in the work to take responsibility for the appropriate portions of the research.
Changes to the author list after submission should be communicated to the editorial office and appropriately justified. All affected authors should agree to any proposed authorship change.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of their manuscripts, including content produced or assisted by artificial intelligence tools.
AI tools should not be listed as authors. Where the use of generative AI materially contributes to manuscript preparation or other aspects of the research, authors should provide appropriate disclosure in accordance with the journal's applicable AI policy.
Data and Research Materials
Authors are responsible for ensuring that research data, analytical procedures, figures, tables, instruments, and other research materials are reported accurately and can be appropriately substantiated.
Where applicable and ethically permissible, authors are encouraged to provide sufficient information to support transparency, reproducibility, and responsible evaluation of the research.
Handling Publication Misconduct
When credible concerns regarding publication or research misconduct are identified, JoMEAR may conduct an appropriate editorial assessment and request relevant information or clarification from the authors or other parties involved.
Depending on the findings and seriousness of the issue, possible editorial actions may include correction, rejection, withdrawal, expression of concern, or retraction of a published article.
Corrections, Retractions, and Post-Publication Issues
JoMEAR is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record. When a significant error or integrity concern is identified after publication, the journal may publish an appropriate correction, retraction, or other editorial notice.
Post-publication changes should be handled transparently so that the original publication history and the nature of the correction remain clear to readers.
Complaints and Appeals
Authors may communicate legitimate concerns regarding editorial procedures, peer review, publication decisions, or ethical matters to the JoMEAR editorial office.
Complaints and appeals should be presented clearly and supported by relevant information. The editorial team will consider such matters fairly and independently in accordance with applicable journal policies and editorial procedures.
Decisions Based on Scholarly Quality
Editorial decisions are based on academic quality, relevance, originality, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, and suitability for the journal. Acceptance or rejection is not determined by an author's nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, personal characteristics, or commercial interests.
